When you’re first diagnosed with diabetes, it can be hard to get your mind around how important it is to keep blood sugar (glucose) well-controlled. But there is a growing amount of evidence that the rewards--while delayed--are enormous: Even small improvements in your glucose levels may prevent serious damage to the kidneys, nerves, and heart.
